Arthur L. Spence, a native of Austin, accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of 6 years old, at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Austin TX, under the late Rev. R.C Smith. During the summer of 1994, in the Upward Bound Program at Huston Tillotson University, Arthur met his future wife, LaShell Alberts. He graduated from William B. Travis High school, in Austin, TX in 1995. He and LaShell married in 1997 and added 2 children, Kendra and Nathaniel, to their family.
After moving to Minnesota in 1998, he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and was a part of the Music Ministry, under his brother-in-law and pastor, Elder James E. Alberts II, at the Higher Ground Church of God in Christ. Pastor Spence accepted his call to the ministry in 2006 and became a licensed minister in 2007 for the Church of God in Christ. As he continued to serve and learn under Pastor Alberts II, Pastor Spence was ordained as an Elder by Bishop Fred W. Washington, the Minnesota Ecclesiastical Jurisdictional Prelate, in 2012. Pastor Spence continued to serve under Pastor Alberts II as an Associate Minister, Sunday School Superintendent, Men’s Department Chair, Minister of Music, Armor Bearer, Transportation Ministry, Cleaning Ministry, Usher President, Evangelism Department Head and a confidant to Pastor Alberts II. Pastor Spence served under Pastor Alberts II for over 12 years before moving his family back home to TX.
Upon returning to TX, Pastor Arthur Spence served underneath his brother, Rev. Johnny R. Spence, Pastor of Zion Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Taylor, TX. Pastor Arthur Spence served as an Associate Minister, Brotherhood Teacher, Sunday School Teacher, and Minister of Music. It was in January of 2020 when Pastor Arthur Spence obtained an ordained minister’s license under the Baptist Denomination. Also in January of 2020, Pastor Arthur Spence began his full-time employment at Marketplace Chaplains, USA. As a Chaplain, he has the opportunity to witness to employees and staff members from all walks of life. In addition to participating in bible studies and offering prayers when requested, he also provides support, and resources to the workplace in the Central Texas area.
In June of 2022, Pastor Arthur Spence accepted the office of the Pastor of Little Ebenezer Baptist Church in Hutto, TX, where he and his family also reside. Pastor Arthur Spence is a humble, God-fearing man, who is honored to have the opportunity to lead God’s people. He is a genuine, loving man that honors God, his family, and the people of God. He is a steadfast leader with a solid background, as a well-regarded Servant of God. Pastor Arthur Spence’s focus is winning lost souls, loving your neighbor, inspiring the believer, preparing God’s people for the work, and producing disciples of Jesus Christ.
Pastor Spence is a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and loves to watch movies, spend time with his family, play and listen to music.
